Biography
Dr. Jordan Denari Duffner is a Catholic theologian, author, and educator whose work focuses on Muslim-Christian relations, interreligious dialogue, Islamophobia, and justice in Israel-Palestine. She holds a PhD in Theological and Religious Studies from Georgetown University, where she currently teaches courses on Islam. A former Fulbright scholar in Amman, Jordan and research fellow at Georgetown's Bridge Initiative, she now serves on the Catholic Advisory Council of Churches for Middle East Peace and was appointed in 2023 to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' National Catholic-Muslim Dialogue.
Dr. Duffner is the author of two award-winning books: Finding Jesus among Muslims (2017) and Islamophobia: What Christians Should Know (and Do) (2021). Her writing has received honors from the Catholic Press Association, the Catholic Media Association, and the Ignatian Solidarity Network. She has also contributed chapters to Overcoming Orientalism and A Pope Francis Lexicon, and her forthcoming book explores Pope Francis' dialogue with Muslims.
A frequent speaker, media commentator, and consultant, Dr. Duffner promotes public theology and interfaith literacy. She writes regularly at Digging Our Well on Substack. Her scholarship, activism, and teaching aim to build bridges across religious divides. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband and young children.
